The 1929 births in Teton county totaled 63, down from 175 in 1928, though higher than 1927's 59. Deaths rose to 47 in 1929 from 42 in 1928, with males dominating mortality. Marriages reached 73 with 10 divorces. January to December birth months listed. Instruments filed fell to 4,916, down 209 from 1928.
Mrs Lena Breeding wife of the late Alex Breeding, long time Agawam resident, died Friday at 4 20 PM at her son Wm Breeding's home two miles east of Agawam following general infirmities of old age. Born May 22 1848 in Hamburg Germany she was 81 years 7 months 5 days. She came to the United States 55 years ago and became a naturalized citizen. Survived by sons Henry Winner ND Gus Rye Gate MT Alex Conrad William Agawam George Randolph NE and daughter Mrs Wm Bruggeman Randolph NE. Funeral services conducted Tuesday at 2 PM from the Methodist church by Rev E R Kaemmer and directed by Charles G Roberts.
The Teton county boys basketball squad left this morning for Shelby to face Shelby High School tonight. Players aboard include Carl Peters, Dick Jones, Lee Moore, Spud Moore, George Loomis, Leonard Halverson, Herman Earles, Jimmie Morgan, and Clifford Norris under coach J Kent Midgett. The local team expects to win despite respect for Shelby’s strength.
A Christmas Eve program at the Methodist church presented The Eternal Quest in three episodes. N W Edwards portrayed a prophet. Bonnie Noble was Mary, Gibson Monkman Joseph, and shepherds included Lynn Baker and others. Helen Bateman spoke as the Spirit of the Quest with Albert Doughty as Spirit of Youth.
Alumni of Teton county high school defeated the undergraduates in both boys and girls basketball at the Chateau Dur during the holidays. Final scores were 25 to 17 for the boys and 17 to 6 for the girls.
Miss Walda Oberg notified her friends last Saturday that her mother died Friday at the family home in Deerwood Minnesota. Oberg heads the normal training department at Teton County high school and had traveled home about a month ago to be with her mother. She plans to return to resume duties after the holidays. Mrs. G R Talbert of Pendray visited Choteau last Thursday.

Thomas Benjamin Fewson longtime western pioneer and Teton county resident since 1918 died Christmas Day at Chateau hospital at age 86. Born in Brampton Canada September 22 1863 he lived in Chicago Canyon City and Helena before homesteading Willow Creek near his daughter Mrs J R Young in 1918. Funeral services were held at C H Connor chapel and he was buried in Choteau cemetery with surviving daughter Mrs Young.
Christmas contest at Rexall store drew 25 entrants with 15 girls named as winners. A. B. Nelson announced results, each vote earned by one cent of purchases, marking the third consecutive year of the event with past winners listed.
Bernard Straight and Willard Paul of Troop 51 Chateau return Monday from the Boy Scout winter camp near Neihart. Fifty nine scouts attended with three supervising adults and a camp cook. Russell Conklin and R D Cook attended as district executives.
Mary FE White departed Saturday for Bremerton Washington to visit her daughter Mrs Blanche Benton in a family travel note from the city.

Total farm income likely 13 percent below 1928, with livestock income steady yet prices lower. Wheat losses drive declines, while hay potatoes and apples rise. irrigated and specialty crops offset losses in western regions. Farmers expand land and machinery, yet 1929 may curb equipment demand. cattle restocking and growing hog dairy poultry holdings continue.
The first showing of the 1930 Chevrolets will be held Saturday at Power-Morgan garage show rooms. Clarrison Craig, manager, announced. The first shipment arrived Monday night and workers prepared the display. Features include a stronger valve-in-head motor, one-piece drive pinion and shaft, larger rear axle gears, self adjusting spring shackles, airplane-type instrument panel with electric gauge, Nelco-Lovejoy two-way shock absorbers, enclosed four wheel brakes, finer upholstery, balloon tires, light weight pistons, bronze bushings, hotspot manifold, and non glare Fisher windshield.
William E. Price, longtime farmer near Bole, died Sunday night at Chateau hospital from uremic poisoning and complications. Born February 20, 1861 in Downs Illinois, he lived in Kansas before moving to Teton county in 1909. He leaves two brothers B O Price and G T Price, a sister Mrs Pete Nation, and a nephew Harry Price. He was a member of Chateau Lodge 44 A F and A M and Teton Chapter 25 Royal Arch Masons. Funeral services were held at the Masonic temple.
Prof Walter T Scott of the Montana School of Mines announced the Montana High School Athletic Association all star football selections. George Loomis is named left halfback from Teton County High School with honorable mentions for Spud Moore Cliff Norris and Jimmie Morgan among others.
Selma Tonette Bleecker wife of Horace H. Bleecker and mother of ten died Tuesday at 5 30 am in the Chateau hospital after ruptured appendix operations and blood transfusion. She was 43 born in Park River North Dakota and lived near Fairfield before moving to Chateau in 1926. Survived by husband seven living children and four brothers. Funeral at Scandinavian Lutheran church near Fairfield with burial there.
Cascade high school and Teton county high school prepare a boys and girls doubleheader this Saturday night. Cascade brings two strong teams and high scoring games are anticipated. The opening whistle is at 8 o clock.
Judge N M Hattersley fixed March 25 and September 12 as naturalization days in the nineteenth district at Chateau. Four petitions for final naturalization papers will be heard at the first session, with two holdovers from last September. Petitions require 90 days notice. two men and two women are among the applicants. Other Chateau dates are listed through December 12.
