Rosebud Expedition Returns After Clash With Sioux
In winter 1873 a 149 man expedition left Bozeman chasing rumors of gold on the Rosebud. They built rifle pits, repelled a 600 Sioux attack near the Little Horn, and endured chevenges with detours to Goose Creek before turning back to settlements with dozens of trophies and a perilous journey.

A Darby Commercial club meeting heard O N Kaldor of the Hamilton pre cooling plant discuss pre cooling and canning. A five member committee including Summers, McRae, Flightner, Bryant and Rissman was formed to study acreage for a plant and to consider a local creamery. The panel will report at the next meeting as farmers and fruit and dairy growers attend.

Profits Realized on Rosebud Farm Mark Noted Grower
C. C. Brewer of Rosebud county, six miles east of Forsyth, reports crops valued near $5,000 on just over 200 acres. Wheat brought over $3,700 from 160 acres, corn about $1,200. oats, alfalfa, and vegetables also grown. Eight Rhode Island Red and White Leghorn hens and eight dairy cows contributed $450. Brewer has farmed successfully for five years and raises most needs at home.

Unlawful Trapping Alleged in Muskrat Case
Alvin Parker and O E Trussell faced charges of unlawfully trapping muskrats and pled guilty before Justice William Gallagher. Trussell paid 30 dollars. Parker, who did not waive time, will appear later. Eleven pelts were seized. trapping occurred on Canyon Creek. Parker had another 40 dollar fine on January 6.
