Man Pleads Guilty to Cow Theft in Territorial Case
County attorney Geo M Coffey Jr asked leave to file information charging Guy Newman with grand larceny after the cow theft from Wallace ranch near Bole last October. Newman pleaded guilty in district court and was sentenced to three years hard labor by Judge John J Greene at Chateau. Under-Sheriff Billings located the cow on A S Moye’s ranch after Newman’s move to the Blackleaf area. The case showed the animals had been sold to James Mullaney and later traded to Moye. Newman, with a wife and four children, pleaded for his family’s welfare but admitted repeated law violations.
