Hospital official attends regional Lutheran meeting in Billings

Opal McGrew R.N. administrator of Teton Memorial Hospital at Chateau attended the Lutheran Hospital and Homes Society regional meeting in Billings on February 16 17 and 18. Medicare and maintenance engineering were among the topics discussed.

CHS Driver Education Funds Help 120 Districts

Helena superintendent Harriet Miller announced $194 415 distributed to 120 districts to support driver education programs based on student completions. The payment equals $26.07 per pupil, reflecting higher participation and more districts offering programs.

Heart Fund Drive Nears End in Teton County

The Heart Fund campaign in Teton county, led by chairman Mrs C W Boussard, will close soon with house to house and business solicitations ending by month’s end. Mrs Jim Smith oversees Choteau business district canvassing and the V F W auxiliary handles residential areas. This marks the 10th year of the drive, highlighting progress against heart disease.

Style Show Models To Appear on TV Sneak Preview

A sneak preview of this year’s Soroptimist style show will air on Today in Montana on KRTV channel 3 Great Falls Tuesday Feb 28 at 8 am. Several models will display outfits planned for the Chateau High School auditorium show on Friday March 3. Publicity chair Mrs. Robert Dellno says plans are on schedule and tickets cost $1 for adults and 25 cents for children under 12.

The Highway Bulletin Board notes Lee Phillips of Helena has been named for the 1967 Outstanding Young Men of America. Phillips, former Chateau resident and grandson of Mr and Mrs Clint Stillman, is listed as Helena Headquarters contact for the Montana Highway Commission publication.

Mrs. A. Saterlie Dies. Funeral Today at Banks Chapel

Adolph Saterlie, 82, died after a lengthy illness at Teton Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are held today at Banks Chapel in Chateau with Rev. Theodore Cox officiating. Interment follows at Chateau Cemetery, with Banks Funeral Home in charge.

Bids Sought For Teton County Nursing Home Project

Bids will be publicly opened at 2 p.m. Tuesday February 28 at the courthouse in Chateau for the Teton County Nursing Home. Contracts include general construction mechanical and electrical works.

Bar Owners Meet City Council Over Live Music Ban

Monday night Chateau officials reviewed Ordinance 159 on gasoline storage as bar owners Herb Owens and Mrs Henry Jensen urged discussion of live music rules. The council approved bids for a city pickup and ordered free removal of old car bodies until March 11 with disposal at Ferris ranch east of Chateau. Claims approved include Waterworks Equipment Co and Montana Hardware Co for supplies and dynamite costs.

Corbett Angus Ranch Sale Planned for February 25

Corbett Ranch of Chateau will sell 70 yearling bulls and 40 bred heifers at a production sale in the ranch pavilion on Saturday February 25. All animals are registered Angus and sired by outstanding Corbett bulls.

Dentist Dr Andrew Jordan Hooks 30lb Trout In BC

Dr Andrew A Jordan of Chateau was notified this week that his 30 pound 2 ounce Western Rainbow trout caught last October on the Kispiox River in British Columbia placed first in a Field and Stream national contest. The fly caught fish is the second largest ever landed on a fly and took 1 hour 45 minutes to reel in. Jordan fished ten days in the area, landing six fish ranging from 10 pounds to the prize. He also received a new fly rod and line from manufacturers as rewards.

Egg Hunt Date Set by Chamber in Chateau

Chamber of Commerce members set the date for the annual Easter egg hunt in Chateau for Saturday March 25 at their bi monthly meeting. John Brandvold said the Teton Canyon area west of Chateau has had ample snow for the second year. A ski run there is an idea of the Community Development committee but snow measurements are required for several years to qualify for financial aid.

Local Bowlers Dominate Fairfield Tournament Results

Choteau bowlers and area teams earned multiple money finishes at the Fairfield event. Slanger and Truchot took third in team with 2,372, while the Mixers of Choteau and Fairfield placed fourth at 2,366. Rose Truchot and Jack Slanger won doubles with 1,268. Rose Slanger and Les Emmerson were second with 1,254. Other money finishers included Wilma and Jerome Toenyes, Power, 1,212. Gladys and Jack Wiseman, Choteau, 1,194. Betty and Bert Corey, Choteau, 1,182. Wilma Toenyes and Art Schmidt, Fairfield, 1,181. Emma Jacobsen and Jerome Toenyes, 1,177.
