Attorneys General Opinion On Tuition For Out Of District Pupils
The opinion states districts may charge tuition for nonresident children if space and resources are limited and resident pupils are not displaced. Tuition should not exceed the originating district’s state and county apportionment. A temporary residence to attend school is not free attendance unless the move is bona fide. A bona fide move means no tuition may be charged.
