George M Coffey Sr dies in California former Choteau mayor

George M Coffey Sr longtime Choteau mayor and Citizens State Bank founder died Sunday night in Berkeley California after a long illness. He had resigned as bank president about a year earlier and had traveled to California with his son Clark for treatment. He leaves three sons George Jr Wallace and Clark and a daughter who died young. He was born in Missouri in 1866 and spent years in banking ranching and public service. He will receive full Masonic rites at the funeral in Chateau with both banks closing that afternoon.

Delightful Masonic Temple Winter Party Hosted by Mrs Brandt and Miss Miller

Mrs Brandt and Miss Miller entertained about 100 guests at the Masonic temple with Valentine decor in both the ballroom and banquet room. novelty acts included impersonations, a prize fight pantomime, and a portable radio dance number, followed by supper and a final punch. Mrs. Wallace Buried in Sunday Service

Mrs. Alice L. Barnes Wallace, born York Montana 1877, died at St. Peter’s hospital Helena from Vincent’s angina after three weeks illness. She was mother to Shirley Wallace and had with William Wallace lived in Chateau and Canyon Ferry before settling in Helena, with funeral in Chateau cemetery.

Oldest settlers celebrate colorful Teton gathering

The annual Oldest Settlers event in Chateau drew many members despite road conditions. 110 banqueted guests enjoyed old time dancing, a hearty supper, and a program. New officers were elected and several guests traveled from Summers on Flathead Lake, Dutton, Blackleaf, Conrad, Great Falls, Stillwater, and Augusta.

Grace Anderson daughter of former Teton County commissioner Dave Anderson excels at Montana State College Bozeman. Now in her fourth quarter she ranks seventh on the honor roll and serves as teaching instructor in bacteriology. She participates in athletics and belongs to the Woman's Athletic Association and the Siem Chi sorority.
