Severe winds and snow could not dampen the 126 pioneers at Woodmen hall for the annual banquet and ball. Dancing dominated the evening with quadrilles and waltzes as Wm. Cook led the grand march and Auld Lang Syne was sung. Officers for the coming year were elected: Mary Monkman president, Jennie Trescott vice president, Jennie Green secretary, John Lane treasurer. Cakes raised 16 dollars to buy society dishes.

Baldwin Pioneer Attorney Dies at Kalispell
Major M. D. Baldwin aged 71 a Kalispell pioneer lawyer and state bar association member died after a lingering illness He served as superintendent of the Blackfeet and Piegan reservations in 1885 aided in Marias pass exploration for James Hill and the Great Northern survey He built Kalispell's first brick building and practiced law until ill health He is survived by his widow three sons and a daughter.

Former T. L. Gap Boy Killed at Coeur dAlene
Howard Shufelt once a resident of the T. L. Gap country was killed December 17 near Couer d'Alene Idaho when a shed roof collapsed under heavy snow. He and a brother were repairing horses at a neighboring ranch when the shed fell. Howard was buried under timbers. The Shufelt family is well known in the county.
