The Chateau Moose Lodge expands its rifle range to welcome all small bore shooters. Open Thursdays with a Feb 21 public shoot. Members provide three rifles. bring your own if desired. Shells cost 25 cents per 10 and 50 cents per 30. Targets supplied. Children welcome with guardians. Safety rules include open bolts and gun racks.

Youth recovers after accidental 22 rifle wound
James Fitzpatrick eleven of Dupuyer is recovering at Teton Memorial hospital after a neighbor gun misfire. The bullet entered his abdomen and was removed by a Chateau surgeon. The boy, staying with the Jones family, was two feet from the gun when it discharged. No one knows who pulled the trigger. He is bedridden but progress is reported and discharge is expected soon.

Fire source found in Choteau drug building basement
Firefighters searched 45 minutes to locate the source of smoke in the Larson building downtown Choteau. They found a burned electro motor in the Chateau Drug basement, the compressor unit inoperative and coils burned. Bill Breere reported the fire before 7 am and helped inspect the scene.

Choteau Independents host Brady in a key Triangle league showdown tonight with both teams vying for first place as the season nears its end. A double header features the Choteau Amazons taking on Brady in a preparatory game at 7 30 p m followed by the Independents facing Great Falls Merchants at 8 15 p m on Saturday at Choteau High School gym. Fairfield captured the AAU subdistrict title at Greenfield by defeating Brady 93 72 in the final game Sunday night with Brady taking second by beating Power 64 55 in a consolation match Monday night. Fairfield and Brady advance to the AAU district tourney in Chester.

Funeral services for 83 year old Alice E. Rogers were conducted at the Choteau Methodist church. Born December 24 1868 in Du Bois Illinois she married Charles M. Rogers who died in 1946. Survivors include three sons a daughter five grandchildren all of Choteau. Burial was in the Chateau cemetery with pallbearers named Peebles Davis Gulbrandsen Burns Edwards and Miller.
