Died at home after brief illness. funeral at Chateau Methodist Church officiated by Rev H L Engdahl. Choteau High Singers Broadcast for Bloodmobile Week

The Choteau high school ensemble led by Vernon Alf will air Tuesday afternoon February 14 from 5 15 to 5 30 pm on KFBB Great Falls. Plan to Start Hospital Drive In Few Days

The Teton Memorial Hospital association plans a county drive starting within days to fund equipment. John Richem will head the effort, with 27 donors contributing 7 500 in the past week. Contributions are urged to the Citizens State Bank or by mail within 30 days to avoid delays.

Car License Checks Set To Begin After Feb 15

Montana highway officials announce car and drivers license checks will start soon after February 15. The county treasurer notes a renewal lag due to weather with 1950 licenses issued by February 7 showing declines from 1949. News tax for highway funding is remitted to the state treasury and county costs are charged to the county treasurer.

Hanusa and Zeller Return From Deep South Air Tour

Arnold Hanusa and Ross Zeller of Chateau flew back Tuesday from an air tour to Guatemala and Miami Florida. Bob Waltermire and Kaare Larsen stayed in Guatemala to clear papers for a Ford tri motor plane Waltermire bought. Hanusa noted the U S Consul in Guatemala was a former Montana State College graduate in Bozeman.

Lincoln Death Report From 1865 Herald Found

Charles Pierce of Choteau discovered an April 15 1865 New York Herald in a family trunk. The front page is dominated by the assassination notice of President Lincoln with a central line drawing and continued editorials on the event. The reprint presents the lead article beginning with President Lincoln and wife visiting with friends that evening.

Lutherans Elect Church Officers At Dutton Here

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran congregation held an annual meeting last Sunday electing 12 officers including Kaare Larsen as three year trustee and Mrs. Alvin Reiquam as three year deaconess. Dutton Lutheran elected Jens Greenli as three year trustee and Adolph Falla as three year deacon. Both meetings reported progress in 1949 and noted Dutton’s debt free new church dedicated in November. The Chateau-Dutton parish is led by Rev A Bernard Gravdal.

Vernon Laubach Named for Montana 4-H Marketing Tour

Vernon Laubach of Dutton is among five Montana boys chosen for a February 19 expenses paid marketing tour to Minneapolis. The award honors his 4-H winter wheat production work and related demonstrations. Commissioners Seek State Action on Dutton Chateau Road

County commissioners and a local road committee in Choteau discussed completing the A-1 farm to market road from Dutton to Chateau. They stressed it depends on the state highway commission and allocations for state construction this year. Attending were L. E. Taylor and others from the state board and Chateau Chamber of Commerce, with Dutton committee members named.

Saddle Club Plans to Finish Clubhouse This Year

About 40 Teton Saddle Club members attended a banquet and dance at Moose Hall Monday night. Club heads announced the clubhouse near the poor farm will be completed this year. The club will sponsor a dance at Moose Hall Feb 18 to raise funds for renovation. New officers elected include Larry Banks president Maurice Smith vice president Lorraine Maynard secretary June Russell treasurer Carroll Maynard director V Earl Hollar two year and Russell Frissell one year. A program directed by Marge Hanusa featured 4 H girls and comics numbers. Dancing continued until midnight with coffee cake and pie served.
