Official Visit of Grand Matron Set for Friday

Worthy Grand Matron Ellen Cooley of Great Falls will pay her official visit to Fidelity Chapter No 18 Order of the Eastern Star on Feb 5. A special meeting and ritualistic work will be held for her inspection. A no host luncheon is planned at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornell for officers and guests. The banquet honoring Mrs Cooley begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple dining room hosted by St Stephens Episcopal Guild. Eastern Stars, husbands, masons and wives may attend. Montana School Admins Convened in Billings Praised as Finest

Montana Association of School Administrators held its annual convention in Billings with Ed Schiller describing it as among the finest in years. Discussion covered certification, student councils, alcoholism and health, salaries, athletics, and administrative issues. The group proposed revisions to high school age rules for participation and placed music and speech under board supervision for next actions.

Ex Senator to Speak at Great Falls Centennial Dinner

Ex Senator Harry Putnam Cain is slated to speak at a Lindoin day Centennial dinner in Great Falls on Monday February 8 at the Hotel Rainbow. Cain will discuss Its a Changed America in a high energy address likely to interest attendees, with emphasis on current political topics. The dinner is sponsored by the Cascade Women’s Republican Club and the Cascade County Republican Central Committee.

Ethel Reid Dies Buried Tuesday in Pendroy Area

Ethel Reid born June 18 1888 in Alexandria Minnesota died after a five day illness. She moved to Montana in 1892 settling in Great Falls and Pendroy area after 1912. She taught at Bynum and Porter school, farmed near Pendroy, and was a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services were held at Chateau Methodist Church with Rev. Grant S. Moore officiating. Burial followed in the peat cemetery with pallbearers from Pendroy.

Lions Club Will Gather Directory House Information

The Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. teams with the Chateau Lions club to collect homeowner details. Lions will call residents for job and street addresses to prepare a directory form, possibly delaying service. Those not supplying numbers may be charged about $2.00 per set at the city office.

Choteau Chamber Names Officers and Plans Friday Meeting

The Choteau Chamber of Commerce inaugurated a new slate of officers and four directors. President Walter Henneford announced a directors meeting for Friday at 7 in the Choteau Drug dining room. Ray Davidson reported progress on the Farmington-Agawam Road traffic, noting it has the county’s highest volume after the oiled highways. A C of C delegation will attend the Citizens Freight Rate Committee meeting in Helena on Feb. 8.

Colletti Released From Deer Lodge Penitentiary

Colletti was released from the Montana State Penitentiary at Deer Lodge after serving two years for grand larceny. He was arraigned in Justice Irwin's court and bound over to district court with bail set at 1000.60. undersheriff Walter Magee presented the arraignment.

Funeral services for Clark L Corey in Collins

Funeral services for Clark Lawrence Corey were held Monday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. A Bernard Gravdal officiating. He died January 26 of a heart attack after two years of illness. Born May 11 1889 at Hunter North Dakota, he settled near Collins Montana in 1910. He married Clara Elizabeth Chambers in Coleraine Pennsylvania on April 28 1917. Survivors include his widow six children Ruth Erickson Evanston IL Edith Lakey Playa Del Rey CA MSgt Dean Corey Port Townsend WA Clark L Corey Jr Ann Arbor MI Chester Corey Chateau MT Herbert R Corey Collins and six grandchildren. He was a former North Dakota Agricultural College attendee and member of the Montana Cowboys Association and Montana Stockgrowers Association. Pallbearers were Ben Beringer Chris Hoerman Lee Revear Roscoe Thompson Joe Alzheimer and Hal Ferris. The program featured speakers on fisheries and wildlife management in Montana including Minnows for bait and the Fishery Use of Hatchery Fish.

Choteau Independents nipped Dutton Legionnaires 55 to 54 on the Dutton court as Bill Perry scored the winning basket at the buzzer. Perry led Choteau with 17 points and Wright added 15 as the contest stayed tight throughout. Greenfield Independents visit Choteau Sunday for a league game, earlier beating Choteau by one point.
