AAA Announces Program To Increase Flax Acreage
Roy F. Morgan, chairman of the Teton County AAA Committee, unveiled a program to raise flaxseed production to meet military and civilian linseed oil needs. Farmers will receive 5 per acre for flaxseed up to their farm goal, set when plans are signed this spring, with payments only on land deemed suitable by committeemen. Montana targets 410 thousand acres, nearly double 1944 output and over four times 1937–41 average, Morgan said.

Dairy Payments Due Three Months to Be Paid Together
The County AAA Office says January February and March Dairy Production Payments will be issued together at the same rates as November and December. The change from two-month to quarterly payments is due to a shortage of administrative funds. Nine livestock operators in Teton County formed the Teton Employers association at Chateau on January 29 to certify 24 Mexican nationals for spring livestock work. Inquest Rules Unavoidable Accident in Fairfield Death
A verdict of Unavoidable accident was returned at a Tuesday inquest by County Coroner G L Banks into the death of William Walter Gilbert in Fairfield. Witnesses described Bert Verwick offering a ride after a dance and June Miller, blinded by car lights, striking the Verwick vehicle, fracturing Gilbert's skull. The jury included Stanse Meyers and others.
