Rural survey underway in Teton County under AAA CWA program
A rural housing survey in Teton County visits almost every farm home to assess conditions and repair needs. Directed by Mrs. Bess Sparrow of Great Falls and E W Bunnell of Bozeman, the effort runs through January 22 as part of a national Rural Needs program. Also led by Miss Iona Stutz and O W Monson, the project involves Montana Extension Service and Montana State College staff with a five district scope across Gallatin, Teton, Phillips, Flathead Lake and Wheatland counties.

After a Wednesday visit by Hocker Smith and a Thursday meeting between Chateau officials and county commissioners, the city council agreed to lease a 160 acre tract from Hirshberg Realty Co. The county may help with labor, lease to be drawn by the city, with rent set at 125 dollars per year and a formal signing expected at the January 2 meeting. The city will submit cost figures for airport equipment and road access, with survey work already begun and a 60 foot utility easement donated by the Chateau Country club.

Miss Nora Perry 18, a Montana State College student and daughter of W. A. Perry of Shelby, died after a car driven by her father skidded on an icy grade near Power while en route home for the holidays. They were met by her father at Great Falls. a Dutton car rushed her to Conrad hospital where she died on the way. Surviving: two sisters Mrs Boyd Morris of the Ohio Oil Co camp near Shelby and Nora Perry of Shelby. Burial in Shelby following Saturday night.

Special Session May End Soon Says Senator Larson
Senator T. O. Larson arrived from Helena during the holiday recess and predicted the special session would likely finish within two weeks. He noted the session could last until January 27, as the constitution limits a special session to 60 days. He cited the governor’s unclear program on finances as a reason for delays and urged finding new revenue sources for the general fund. Revenue bills proposed would direct a percentage to the general fund.

Power lineman burned while repairing Montana substation
Ray English, a Montana Power Co. lineman, was slightly burned on a hand and foot Saturday morning while repairing a switch at the local substation. Manager B E Brownson said ice caused the problem and that the current had been cut off. The charge occurred when English touched energized conductors but injuries were not serious and he continued work.
