Chateau fire department chief Art Anderson announced the annual Firemen's New Year’s Eve Ball will be held next Wednesday night at the Masonic hall with the Rhythmaires providing music. Proceeds fund department equipment and help keep the public safe. tickets are $1.50 per couple, available from members or at the door. Anderson urged holiday fire safety and offered practical tips for artificial and real trees, lighting, and extinguishers.

Warren Theatres Inc president Warren Gavin says he bought the Roxy Theatre in Chateau from Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Richardson who have run it since October 1958. He will take over January 1 with no immediate changes except a price tweak and plans to open six nights a week in February.

Ron Lehnerz of Western Montana College at Dillon was ranked 14th in final NAIA rushing statistics. He carried 126 times for 621 yards and joined the All Frontier Conference team this season. Lehnerz previously played for the Chateau Bulldogs, averaging 124 yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry.

Thieves break into ranch home near Dutton
A break-in at Adam F. Dahlman’s ranch home seven miles southeast of Dutton occurred between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. A 23 inch color Sylvania TV, a Magnavox stereo, and two down jackets were stolen. Deputies say the thieves appeared familiar with the house and left no definite leads.

New License Plates Issued After Jan
The 1970 license plates will be shipped to counties from the motor vehicle registrar's office at Deer Lodge state prison. This is the first new plates issue since 1968. Royal blue numerals on a white state map outline. Kaiser Aluminum supplied 220000 pounds of aluminum for 1970 plates for 78980 dollars. 1969 plates must be replaced by February 15, 1970.

Standish L H Funeral Monday In Chateau
Lyle Hayes Standish 70 died Friday at Teton Memorial Hospital. He was born August 21 1899 in Halsey Oregon and moved to Montana in 1916 settling in the Bole area. He served in the Montana House of Representatives for Teton County and held many Masonic and charity positions. He is survived by a brother and a sister. a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday at the United Methodist Church in Chateau with burial in Chateau Cemetery.
