Fire destroys house near Chateau after overheated stove ignites roof
A remodeled residence 12 miles south of Chateau burned to the ground after an oil heater chimney ignited the roof. Reuben Depner and missiles workers fought the flames as neighbors alerted Fairfield Augusta and Teton County fire units. Mrs. Depner said plumbing delays and unfinished move-in plans contributed to the loss. the Depners housed with Mrs. Depner’s parents afterward.

An auto crash 14 miles west of Fairfield on Montana Highway 408 sent a Chateau doctor and a nurse by helicopter to the scene. Chris D. Rapp, 27, was hospitalized in Chateau with shock and facial injuries after colliding with Jack O. Parrish, 24, of Great Falls, who was treated and released. Waldo Hutchinson, also of Great Falls and a Boeing employee, was uninjured. The incident prompted an emergency helicopter response before authorities assessed the severity.

Mrs Chambers Dies in Portland Oregon
Mrs Litta Ferris Chambers 81 died in Portland Oregon of a long illness. Born Litta Gordon in 1881 at Renville Minnesota she came to Montana as a child and taught school in Collins area. She married Chester Chambers in 1946 and they ranch in Stockett before moving to Sohagen. Survived by two sons Gordon Ferris and Forrest Ferris a brother Ben Gordon and a sister Martha Dearwane with several grandchildren great grandchildren. Funeral services were held and ashes scattered near Garret gravesite.
