Merchants Trip Augusta 59 to 29 in Triangle League opener

The Choteau Merchants defeated the Augusta Independents 59 to 29 in the opening Triangle League game. Top scorers for Choteau were Don Arensmeyer with 14 and Jim Lohse with 13, while Augusta’s Morgan had 11 and Gordon Dellno and Jim Spinder five each. The Merchants led 19-9 at first, 34-16 at halftime, and 48-21 after three quarters.

Mrs. Charlotte Pedersen Laid to Rest in Dutton

Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Pedersen 75 were at Bethany Lutheran Church Dutton with Rev A Bernard Gravdal. She was born in Hadsel Norway March 24 1882 came to the U S in 1913 married Baard Pedersen at Havre May 10 1916 and lived at Gilford 1915 to 1928. Burial in Choteau cemetery.

Henry Hanson Dies Tuesday Funeral Friday

Henry Bernhardt Hanson 73 died Tuesday at Teton Memorial hospital after a long illness. He was born August 12, 1884 in Neilsville Minnesota and moved to Montana in 1909. Burial will be in Choteau cemetery.

Supervisors to Be Elected by Soil Districts

Four county Soil Conservation District supervisors will be chosen at the Extension Office in the courthouse at Chateau on December 16. Last Rites for Augusta Lady Held Today

Funeral services were held for Elizabeth Wearley 83 at St Matthias Church in Augusta with burial in Augusta cemetery. A coroner’s jury found the car driver not at fault, declaring the accident unavoidable. She was born in Winnipeg March 4, 1874 and lived in Box Elder, Havre, Sweet Grass Hills, Chateau, then Augusta. Survived by two daughters, a son, 17 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great er greatest grandchildren.

Pastor Speaks Of Christmas To Lions Club

The Chateau Lions Club held its bi monthly meeting at the club hall with Rev A B Gravdal of Trinity Lutheran Church delivering a lengthy Christmas message about the spirit of the season and the Father in Heaven transcending earthly matters. Intern Richard Johnson of Dutton sang two carols and performed another number after prompting from the audience. Mrs Janet Wedum accompanied two carols on piano before the meal as Dr Arthur A McAuley gave the invocation. President Robert Gormley announced no new business and the meeting adjourned to a directors’ session. the next Lions gathering is set for Tuesday Dec 17 with roast beef on the menu.
