A nor'easter forced Mason ic members from this place to travel to Valier for the constitution of Valier Lodge LL D and to install new officers. Grand Master J W Speer of Great Falls attended. Delegates from Chateau, Great Falls, Conrad, Sweet Grass and others joined the Valier group for ceremonies and a large banquet at Valier's hotel with speeches, toasts, and entertainment by the Valier orchestra.
A group of Mor mons traveling from Utah to Cardston Canada camped in Moore's prove town. Eight children faced bitter cold as the party pressed on after a Monday warning, with men urged to relocate the women and kids to Collins for rail transfer, a plan they rejected.
Chris Neck a ranch hand was found dead behind the Mint saloon in Sweet Grass on November 30. Dr Bateman testified three facial wounds and a chest wound, plus a head wound, could each cause death in a relaxed body. autopsy showed no skull fracture. Brothers John and Tom Erickson of Norway are held on suspicion. preliminary hearing set for Friday.

Billy Miller sold his cattle to Sandy Truchot. J Seibert the Great Falls meat man was here on business Monday. Frank Jefferson injured his foot last week. J B Crossfield of Portland representing Studebaker came in from Great Falls Sunday by auto. Miss Nagle ill most of last week is now improved.
Mr. A. H. Daughty of Great Falle is named the new bookkeeper for Lirshberg's store, taking charge of ledgers and financial records.
Mr. ed Hirshberg returned from a few days visit in Conrad Sunday. Mrs Nat Collins spent several days last week with her daughter, Mrs Frank Salmond, of Belleview.
Mrs. H. Beaupre ends week long visit with old friends in and around Chateau and returns to her residence in Sweet Grass.
Twenty teachers took the November examination. ten passed. One earned a first grade certificate, four earned second grade certificates, and six earned third grade certificates. Arithmetic and history were the toughest subjects and many struggled with grav war and geography. Two applicants are still in doubt as their papers have not been sent from Cavade county to Mrs. Anderson.
Word reaches that Mrs Geo Stebeek formerly of Chateau has been admitted to Great Falls Hospital for an upcoming operation.
The wife and baby girl of Mr. I. Irons are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams during Mr. Irons's work absence in the mountains.

A marriage license was issued on November 3 to Harry S. Le Grant of Lowlee and Maude A. Stoughton of Marysville.
The Rev J Knox Bodell has accepted a call to lead a church in the Hawaiian Islands as assistant to the island bishop. He will depart within weeks after awaiting New York papers. A former curate of the Church of the Incarnation for four years, he also led county chapels and now departs to a high post in a new jurisdiction.
Court adjourned December 3 as high cases were disposed of under guilty pleas. Geo Brown and Wm Mowat were sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary for stealing horses from Donahue Bros near Bynum. Ira Intbott received three years for robbing shacks in the Raymond country. Geo Hertman Ind Berkhardt and Joe Clark were given sentences ranging from eighteen months to three years for various robberies. Dexter Boyer and Gustav George sent to reform school for train wreck and store robbery. Sheriff McKenzie and Jailer Wallay, with Ab Furman, escorted prisoners to Miles City for the reform school.

Mrs. Prank Truchot hosted the Embroidery club last Saturday with a large turnout despite cold weather. Attendees report a very pleasant time and pleasant company.

The Fairfield boys organized a fourteen member band at Austad schoolhouse on November 26 and will hold winter meetings twice weekly. Mrs. Paul entertained the Ladies Aid on November 4 with many in attendance. Various residents, including Henry Young from Great Falls and the Landswerk family, made visits to and from town.
Yesterday afternoon Fred Drinkenberger of L. J. Otness joined a riding event when his horse stepped in a badger hole causing the saddle to turn and he was thrown. One leg broken in several places. Dr. Bateman attended.
