Death Friday morning ends the long adventurous career of James Heighton a Montana pioneer and early settler born October 18 1851 in Pictou River John Nova Scotia He sailed the seas before turning to ranching and homesteading in Montana He is survived by his wife three children a brother and a sister Funeral services were held Sunday at the Methodist church with a quartet and pallbearers named.

He will attend a club meeting next Monday to finalize arrangements and shipments, aiming to have the calves here before January’s end. The club organized last year but had limited activity due to calf shortages and now counts 14 members.

Peter Rush, a 71 year old Power area farmer, died by strangulation in a granary after writing a note to his wife about his suicide. Coroner and undersheriff investigated. no inquest. Rush deeded property to his wife two weeks earlier and had health troubles including blindness. He left a note and arranged a rope and box as a makeshift noose. body sent to Great Falls for burial. Survivors include a wife and a deceased son drowned years ago.

Phil J. Cole loaded two carloads of feeder lambs from Bole on Tuesday billed to Fort Collins Colorado. He said plans call for next Saturday to ship 15 cars of similar lambs from Walter and Sundance to the same destination.
