Four Montana railroad presidents unveiled tentative construction plans totaling dozens of miles and millions in cost to tap rich sugar beet and wheat regions. Northern Pacific will build 63 miles from Glendive to Brockway and 25 miles along Bitter Root, relocating the old Bitter Root line for about 4 million. Great Northern to add 33 miles from Richey to Circle in Redwater valley at 900000. Milwaukee and Soo lines reportedly survey near Terry and White Tail to reach Scobey wheat country, possibly linking Wolf Point, Circle, and Terry.

A petition for a certificate of purchase was filed by Robert T Swaine and Donald C Swatland after they bought the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railway at auction in Butte Montana. They seek to turn the property over to the Chicago Milwaukee and Pacific Railway Company organized by Kuhn Loeb amp Co and the National City Company. The sale fetched 140 million dollars, with the road valued around 700 million. Protest grows in St Paul over dropping St Paul from the line name.

County Treasurer Otto Wagnild reported November current tax receipts through November 29 totaled 148 240 83 for real and personal taxes. O'Brien and Lordan of Butte were awarded contracts last week for the Hannan Point and Bar Mountain bridges over the Sun River and the Teton. The Hannan Point bid was 11617.50 and Bar Mountain 4160.00, with a June 30, 1927 completion deadline. Bids came from firms in Great Falls and Billings, the Great Falls group bidding the highest.

One Month of Good Weather Finishes Bynum Project
The Bynum irrigation project near Winston Bros. is near completion with spring weather expected to finish work. Dr Carey reports only minor tasks remain including farm laterals, culverts, drops, checks, and the reservoirs dam ring after settlement. Water for 22 500 acres will be stored in a 100 000 acre foot reservoir and turned over to the Bynum Irrigation District by June 1927.

Montana Loses Wheat Kings Title to Alberta
Montana exhib its at the Chicago grain show won many premiums but Herman Weembly of East River Alberta claimed the sweepstakes title, earning Canada the Wheat King of North America honor. Montana led in hard red winter and spring categories, with Ravalli Gallatin and Teton counties winning multiple awards. Five flax entries placed, and Four H club members expected home Saturday.

Foot Holds County Boards Have Power To Abate Del Taxes
Helena Montana November 30 Another stride in Montana development was made possible today by an important ruling by Attorney General L A Foot which makes possible the recovery of farm lands valued at thousands of dollars by owners forced by financial circumstances to allow taxes to go delinquent. Penalties and interest on delinquent taxes may be remitted by Montana counties on such property as the counties hold under delinquent tax certificates. The decision affects lands worth about 40000000 on which accumulated delinquent taxes amount to about 10000000. The opinion makes it possible for county commissioners to abate delinquent taxes and start owners off with a clean slate. If sustained it will aid agricultural development and help transfer land. Mr and Mrs J C Morgan and family Mr and Mrs C W Burns and family and Mr and Mrs Wm Cook went to Sun River Sunday to attend the funeral of Elmer Adams former well known resident of the Sun River section who died last Friday morning at Whitefish. W G Bloomdall Mrs J E Hodgskiss and J Kent Midgett accompanied the local people and sang for the services. Mr Adams was a brother of Mrs Morgan and cousin of Mrs Burns.

Government seeks to condemn Allan ranch in Sun River canyon
Great Falls November 27 Condemnation proceedings have been filed in federal court against property owned by Ralph and Frances Allan. The government offers 10 000 for the two tracts totaling about 159 acres. The land lies near the Gibson dam site of the Sun River reclamation project and will be submerged when the dam is completed. The Allan ranch has long been a summer camping and hunting spot in the Sun River country.

Plentywood Montana November 30 Two masked bandits rob the Sheridan county treasurer's office taking 45000 in cash and 50000 in bonds. They force Treas Eugene Tortenson and a deputy into a vault and lock them inside for about an hour before discovery by the courthouse janitor. One thief is tall, the other short. faces hidden by handkerchiefs.
