Flower Show at Chateau Wo Manns Club Draws 91 Entries
The annual flower show and luncheon hosted by the Chateau Woman’s Club last Saturday drew 91 flower entries despite pests. Proceeds of 77 dollars support library activities, with thanks to volunteers and the American Legion for space, plus judges and organizers named.

Edwin Stone Dies After Long Illness Aged Farmer
Funeral services were held Sunday at Chateau Methodist for Ed Stone a longtime farmer from the Dutton and Bynum areas. Rev Dr. Paul Dierberger officiated with Lloyd Croxford singing and Mrs. Maurice Zimmerman at the piano. Interment followed at Chateau cemetery. Stone born February 8 1875 in Lawrence Kansas lived in Dutton and near Bynum before moving to Chateau. Survived by Ada Stone widow two sons W H Stone C E Stone both of Albany Oregon two daughters Fern Torgerson Pendrey and Helen Gilbert Fairfield a brother Charles Stone East St. Louis and half brother Frank Moore San Diego. Clarence Stone traveled from Oregon for the funeral. Pallbearers were D G Seekins Lief Erickson Charles Koch Ray Davidson James Thorne Jr and Robert Stewart.

Battle Scarred Major and Wife Visit Breens
Major J. P. Connor of Great Falls and his wife visited the J. W. Breen home on Thursday. The major recently returned after 27 months in the Pacific, earning battle stars for Attu Kwajalein Leyte and Okinawa along with the combat infantryman badge the purple heart and the bronze star with four oak leaf clusters. Mrs. Connor is the daughter of M. J. Breen of Great Falls.

Former Teton student returns from army service
Cpl George Kochman Jr. and his father Carl Kochman of Bynum came to town on Saturday. George had just left the army and stepped back on American soil at Boston on the 8th of this month. He and Glen Stott of Bynum went overseas in October 1942 and George landed in Brussels shortly after D Day, engaging in heavy fighting thereafter.

Family to Make Red Lodge Home After War Damages
Mrs O Hansen and daughter Mrs Virginia Nelson with granddaughter Sherrill plan to settle in Red Lodge. Nelson, in a veterans hospital, was severely wounded in action in Europe after their jeep hit a land mine. He is expected home on furlough and discharge soon. Mrs Stott and Mrs Ted Stott visited Miss Glenna Stott in Chateau Sunday. Ted Stott, ex Teton football star, recently returned from Europe's theatre after being missing in action when his bomber was shot down over Germany. He survived a German prison camp and was liberated by Yank troops.
