Mabel Crane of Chateau was elected secretary after resignations by Ray Davidson and John Davison. Davidson moved to Great Falls to run a bulk oil plant. A 1951 Ford carried six youths, including four from Fairfield, at high speed to a tree north of Chateau. Marvin Schock, 22, Fairfield, drove, causing two riders with serious injuries. Shirley Lindgren, 16, Chateau, broke her leg. Harold Hager, 19, Fairfield, broke his arm. Dennis Lindgren, 15, Chateau, and others suffered cuts. Hager released after one day. The Rev John Kohl pastor of Zion Lutheran Power and Fair field churches died Saturday night from a heart attack at his Power home while en route to a Great Falls hospital. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Power with burial at Watertown. Survived by wife Dorothy Eggers and three children James John Jr and Kathy. Kohl had served in Africa and Wisconsin as a missionary and pastor before his death.
