Funeral services for Leif Erickson of Bynum were held at Trinity Lutheran Church after a heart attack Sunday at Teton Memorial Hospital. Roy Ellig of the Montana Fish and Game department reports a remarkable pintail hen that incubated a nest for 57 days in a study area aimed at boosting waterfowl nesting survival. The usual incubation is 23 days, but the eggs were infertile or chilled during the hen’s absence. The hen’s perseverance earned notice in a Montana wildlife study.

Montana spring wheat shows the highest protein of any state, averaging 14.9 percent in 1951 with winter wheat at 13 percent. Summer fallowed, dry land, and irrigated crops vary, and premiums rise with higher protein.
