Drilling crews from Gulf States Zodiac encountered an unusual jam at about 2500 feet in the Madison lime on the J B Wellenstein ranch north of Pendroy. Hoisting tools failed to budge after rising about 100 feet and acid attempts to dissolve a supposed lime slab proved ineffective due to water dilution.

Catholic Church Sponsors Scout Program In Helena Diocese
A plan to organize a Boy Scout troop in every Catholic parish in the state was approved at a district meeting in the Social Center hall with pastors and representatives from Conrad Shelby Cut Bank Walier Browning and Family Mission parishes. Leaders including Ralph D. Cook and Arnold C. Hanusa outlined future adult training and a big rally set for Aug 30 at Social Center hall open to parents and youths. Oscar H. Benson and R. D. Old Time Montanan Robert Hood Dies in Choteau
Robert LaFayette Hood 82 long resident of Montana died Friday morning at Choteau Hospital after a yearlong decline. Born August 10 1856 in Riceville Tennessee he worked as a miner freighter and frontier worker before moving to Teton County in 1890s and ranching. Surviving are three sons Robert George and Glen Hood and three daughters Mrs Leonard Lewis Mrs Sid Snider and Mrs Geo Cook. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church with Rev. R F Vick officiating.

FSA Opens Choteau Office in Larson Building
The Farm Security Administration opens an office in the Larson building Choteau on August 30 1938 to serve Teton county residents avoiding trips to Great Falls. Idaho Youth Killed in Auto Crash Near Choteau
Robert Hastriter, 17, of Nampa, died after his car collided with a Hodgskiss vehicle four miles northwest of Choteau. The crash involved three cars and started a fire. a coroner’s jury found the Hamilton driver not to blame as the accident was deemed unavoidable. Hastriter’s body to be shipped to Nampa for burial. Greta Bush and Irvin Thode were occupants who survived with minor injuries.

All County Water Carnival To Be Held Saturday
All county water carnival scheduled for Saturday evening at the municipal pool under Stanley Smith and Lions Club volunteers. About 50 to 60 entrants expected from Chateau Dutton Fairfield Power and CCC camps. Events include senior men and women races, junior boys and girls races, multiple dives, a 200 yard relay, and novelty acts with prizes and time records kept.

Theo B Halverson owner of the Chateau drug store plans further improvements after purchasing the business last spring from R R Mellon.
