Al Finley a Chateau High School science teacher endured a rough family vacation. An aunt and daughter were confined in a car by a bear near Creston, the car’s wheel bearing and transmission failed, a radiator and fender were damaged in a collision with a deer, and a broken differential hung over a puddle of sludge. The trip cost about 500 dollars beyond normal expenses with the car repaired in Whitehall and later complications added by a faulty fire extinguisher and a broken radiator.

Choteau Babe Ruth team won two straight after an opening loss to Power to finish third in the eight team Fairfield Invitational. Power led 5-0 early and beat Choteau 6-3. Jesse Gleason a Chateau native and famed painter
Yesterday marks the artist Jesse Gleason's seventy fourth birthday. Born August 18 1890 near the Teton River, Gleason grew up amid open range cowboys and Indian companions. He studied art in Saint Paul before WWI service. Postwar he painted, enlisted local work, and even served as Teton county assessor before returning to art full time.
