Ron Swortzel of Chateau won the Third Annual Fair Grounds Enduro sportsmen race in Great Falls after a one hour contest. His brother Tom finished third in the kids division, driving a half hour race. Swortzel family is listed as the sons of Mr and Mrs Bob Swortzel of Chateau.

885 Residents Receive Funds From Program

County Fire Crew Battles Hay Blaze Near Choteau
The county fire department responded to a hay stack fire at the Lowry Larson ranch north of Choteau Saturday around 6 p.m. Sheriff Al Becker and deputies Nelson and Sargent used the county truck along with Pendrey and Miller Colony volunteers. About 900 bales of wild hay were destroyed before control was achieved at 4 a.m. Sunday. the Miller Colony stayed to monitor spread.
