Scouts Fall to Fairfield Juniors in Sunday Game
On Sunday the Fairfield Juniors defeated the local Scouts 19 to 17 at the local baseball grounds. Moye and Munson each struck out four. Jourdonnais walked six and struck out one. Scouts lineup included Core Swain Byler Jourdonnais Rosengren Smith Baillie Thompson and one. Fairfield players included Healy Shoquist H Lee Bradford Stefford A Lee Olson Jay and Munson. Next up the Scouts host Cordova at Power on Aug 13 and Diamond Valley a week later at Diamond Valley.

Sheriff J L Billings announces a citywide low wave police broadcasting station to be run from police headquarters. Flower Show Donations Renewed With Yard and Garden Contest
Donations for the annual Choteau flower show include cash and trade prizes totaling over 75 dollars from local business people and residents. The event on September 4 at the American Legion pavilion features yard and garden contest winners announced by the Chateau Lions club for the association of America. Local judges name winners amid a dance and a peach dance and more events. Fritz Roll may judge both flowers and gardens.

Three divorce actions were filed in the district court clerk’s office. Grounds cited are desertion in each case. Elsie Jones of Highview seeks separation from S. D. Jones and custody of four minor children aged over 14. they married in 1906 at Garden City Minnesota. Peder Anderson sues Jenine Anderson with no children, married in Chicago on November 8, 1927. Stella Hay sues George L. Hay, married in 1926 with no children, and Stella asks to restore her maiden name Stella Bauer.

The County Clerk Geo Carroll presents the annual financial statement for the year ending June 30 showing gains in current assets to 514 509.62 from 454 014.74 and fixed assets at 545 919.44 totaling 1 060 429.06. Liabilities total 497 536.18 with reserves 201 079.27, balance up 55 768.46 from last year. Receipts rise in county funds to 391 258.05 while trust and agency receipts fall to 200 090.85, yielding total receipts 591 348.90, down 15 802.25 from last year. Expenditures mostly down with district court costs up to 7 427.70 and maintenance rising to 4 564.09, bringing total payments to 602 197.35, versus 670 168.10 last year. Cash balance ends higher than year start by 12 560.64 but below previous year’s levels.

Contracts to Be Offered for Peas in 1934
D P Thurber of Fairfield announced a communication from Woodruff & Sons of Milford Connecticut that contracts will be offered to Sun River project farmers to grow a limited acreage of seed peas in 1934. The price will align with the seed trade for 1984 and be uniform nationwide. Farmers will use row planting furrow irrigation and bean-style harvest methods to boost yields and quality.

Death Claims Chas Strand, Well Known Choteau Carpenter
Charley Strand died at 4 a.m. Sunday in Choteau hospital after a long illness from intestinal nephritis and myocarditis. He was a Wisconsin-born carpenter noted for cabinet work and finishing, living in Choteau since 1910. Survived by one brother Oscar J. Strand of Grantsberg and five nephews, three nieces, with several relatives in Sweden. Funeral held at the Methodist church. pallbearers named. remains shipped to Wisconsin for interment.
