Hoffman Execution Set for Tuesday August 29

George Hoffman, convicted of murdering George Burrell, faces execution on August 29 after Judge R M Hattersley set the date at a special term. A double gallows will be placed in the county machine shed east of the jail with sunrise as the tentative hour.

County Adopts Wheat Allotment Plan for Glarkoons

County Agent Clarkson closes the final wheat allotment meetings in Fairfield Bynum and Agawam as Montana counties receive specific allotments. Teton County is allotted 1 195 852 bushels with about 54 percent domestic use. Applications blanks due within 10 days. eligibility requires acreage reductions of roughly 8 to 10 percent, with payments of 20 cents per bushel plus spring payments.

Merchants Host Free Show At Royal Theatre

Four hundred sixty two guests attended the Choteau merchants event at the Royal theatre last Saturday. Lions club leaders provided free matinee admission with every dollar spent and offered door prizes worth merchandise credits. Prize winners were Lola May Burns Dorothy Allum Julius Olson Jr and Mrs Eugene Ferris. Merchants judged the day a success boosting city goodwill and entertainment for locals and visitors. A trade extension committee led by K B E Sturgis organized the event while Mr and Mrs Thos A Edwards of Cerro Gordo Illinois visited Choteau en route home from Wenatchee Washington.

Local Scouts and Fairfield Juniors Tie in Return

Chateau Scouts and the Fairfield Juniors played 5 all on the Fairfield baseball diamond last Sunday in a game halted after seven innings due to time. Key moments saw Mozer Swain and Kay drive in runs. Munson and Moye each fanned 10, while multiple substitutions occurred. A return game funds Scout equipment with no admission, and a charity match featuring the Yannagans and Ace Leary is planned for the next week.

Choteau Bids Soo Son Farewell at Notable Function

A Tuesday banquet at Beaupre cafe bids Soo Son farewell as he returns to Canton and China with no plans to return. Guests include former Montana governor Senator John Erickson, state Senator Tom Larson, Mayor D. W. Burns, and many friends. Soo Son, resident 44 years in Teton county and 55 in the United States, reflects on his life from Canton to Cha teau serving as cook and restaurateur before sailing August 11 from San Francisco aboard the President McKinley.

City Levy to Remain 29 Mills Despite Lower Valuation

Death Claims Edwin Bailey Old Stockman

Edwin Bailey longtime Teton County stockman and Chateau resident died Sunday evening at his home. Born July 26 1854 in Bath New Hampshire he came west in 1893 to Montana). He and wife Florence Cochran married in Great Falls 1897 and farmed cattle and hay before settling in Chateau in 1929. Funeral services were held at the local M E Church with services and plans announced for a water carnival to be held Saturday August 12 at the Chateau gravel pit pool featuring races and a bathing beauty contest with cash prizes.

Water rules flagrantly violated say officials

Cooler weather brings relief as city officials report widespread infractions of water rules and hose use. Pumps ran at full capacity last Friday pumping 596000 gallons. Violations include sprinkling outside hours and hose without nozzle, with prosecutions contemplated. Water meters may replace flat rates. violators face fines and service cuts until paid. Public cooperation urged to maintain adequate supply.
