Letters to the Editor on Cold War anti-Communist drive
In 1945 the United States emerged as a powerful nation after World War II, facing a persistent Cold War with Communists winning inside many free states. An 81 page government pamphlet and Edward Hunter testimony are cited to show how anti-Communist activism grew from grassroots to forceful public opinion. The author questions whether neutrality can win a war and urges Americans to resist aggression while warning that exposure as Red propaganda would aid victory in the Cold War. R. Crocker.
