The Farmers Home Administration announces new Fairfield office serving Teton county rural families. Production loans up to 400 dollars available locally with five percent interest. higher amounts through Great Falls district or Bozeman state offices. Loans may total up to 3500 dollars and run up to one year. No farm and home plan required. Veterans receive preference under a Congress act guiding the new agency.

Funeral Services Held for Bertha Fuller Power Woman
Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Fairfield for Bertha Caroline Fuller 70 of Power who died at Chateau Sunday. The Rev A B Holland officiated. Born April 11 1877 in Peterson Minnesota she came to Teton county in 1916 homesteaded near Power. Survivors include her husband two sons George and Emmett of Power three sisters Emma Wilson Hannah Peterson and Clara Tew one brother Henry Wilson and three grandchildren Pallbearers were Martin Gronberg Fred Swenson Rudolf Bremer Albert Thompson Lyle Davis and Chester Ostberg.

Four Students Earn Right to Participate In Scholarship Contest
Four Teton County high school students earned invitations to the state scholarship contest in Bozeman May 1 2 and 3 after elimination tests in April. The top two papers from each test were sent to Bozeman and finalists include Patty Breen typing I Richard Bandon typing II and major secretarial Florence Cook American history and English fundamentals Margaret Taylor English fundamentals and English and American literature. Miss Taylor will enter the major English event.

Reid Quits Royal Theater to Join Cal Shrum Rhythm Rangers
Hugh Reid, Royal Theater manager since last July, will leave Choteau this weekend to become advance booking agent for Cal Shrum and his Rhythm Rangers. He will route engagement tours supervise recordings and transcriptions and accompany the troupe to Hollywood for a motion picture and phono graph work this summer. Mrs. Cecil Huffman of Choteau named manager of the Royal theater by Yellowstone Amusement Co. Reid came to Choteau from Bozeman, his home.

Morris Mancoronal 26, son of Mrs. Anna Mancoronal of Choteau, wed Elizabeth W. Dane 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cassey Dane of Dupuyer, at the First Methodist church in Great Falls. Mancoronal, a Chuck Wagon cafe manager at Choteau, served as a technical sergeant mechanic with the 313th Troop Carrier squadron in Europe during World War II and has 20 years overseas service. The bride is from Pondera and Teton counties. The couple will reside in Choteau.

Teton Rancher Sells 15 Heifer Calves For $2,235.63 Price
Fifteen selected calves owned by Gottlieb Christman, Farmington ran cher, sold for $2,234.63 on Tuesday this week. The calves averaged $14.04 each to the Great Falls Livestock Commission Co. Six calves were Christman’s and nine were previously purchased by him for $59 apiece. The Farmington rancher kept the cattle as this year’s calves from the tier.

County approves three mill levy hike for schools
County commissioners vote to raise the county school levy from six to nine mills, boosting district budgets by over 20 percent next year. Symphony Concert Set for Tomorrow Killip Pleads Innocent to Hit Run
Roy Killip, 61, pleaded innocent to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Richard Parsel, 12, after a car struck a bicycle in Fairfield on March 17. Killip, free on $1000 bail, denied knowledge of any accident and was arraigned in Chateau district court before Judge R. M. Hattersley. The case is slated for fall term trial in Teton county district court. Richard Parsel and his brother Jack were biking when struck. one boy died and the other injured. Killip’s car was seized in Great Falls March 18.

Collins Youth Laid to Rest in Family Plot
Edward Otis Wick 24 son of Mr and Mrs Ole Wick of Collins died after a 20 day illness. Funeral at Croxford Mortuary Great Falls with Rev A Bernard Gravdal officiating. Wick served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and earned full military honors at burial in Highland Cemetery Great Falls. He lived in Collins Sun River and later farmed at Sun River. He is survived by his parents three sisters and three aunts and uncles.

Orchestra Leader Brings 15-Piece LA Band To Public Dance
Johnny Catron leads a 15 member Los Angeles orchestra drawn from top army navy and coast guard bands for a public dance tonight at the American Legion park pavilion in Chateau. The group performs swing numbers and Catron drums one handed. Dancing runs from 9 30 to 1 20. The act has national attention and recent appearances include Robert Ripley’s Believe It or Not. The orchestra played Great Falls Civic Center last night and will play Kalispell tomorrow night.
