Commissioners Proceedings Choteau Montana 1919 hearings and actions
The Choteau Montana board of commissioners on March 27 1919 opened a hearing for a herd district in Teton county with John C. Boettcher present. They set May 6 1919 for the hearing and ordered notices published in the Bynum Herald. Afternoon session reconsidered high school trustee appointments and accepted Coffey and Andrews replacing previous appointees. On March 28 the second day, Sheriff Martine appeared and county attorney Mares advised no rental for residence on jail site. The board denied rental for Jas Sulgrove’s lots and approved a road right of way exchange and partial fence and ditch work. Quarterly reports from county clerk M A O Neill and Sheriff I S Martine were approved. The audit of county claims began, and the meeting adjourned to March 29. The third day continued with the county superintendent Ruth Sweat’s report.

Murder Suspect Arrested in North Dakota Case
E Stoller wanted in Carson North Dakota for murder was arrested at Shelby by Sheriff Ike Martine. He was turned over to North Dakota authorities and taken to await trial. He had previous arrest for wife beating in Brady and was stopped at the Canadian border while fleeing. Details of the North Dakota murder are unclear.

Choteau Cleans Up Town in Historic Forenoon
Acting on Mayor Morgan's request, all offices and businesses closed Friday forenoon. Armed with rakes and shovels, municipal squads cleared entrenched debris. Mayor Morgan led reconnoitering in his armoured Ford while teams reinforced targeted areas. By noon the cleanliness campaign achieved a complete victory and the town dissolved the army of cleaners.

Pie social funds boost Bird Hill school program
The senior normal girls held a pie social and dance at Bird Hill schoolhouse last Saturday to fund teaching practice. Shadows were sold for 75 cents to over two dollars raising 3 29 after expenses to outfit the school with gas lamps. A basket social is planned soon for the school's benefit. The domestic science class makes cookies this week and the seniors study Les Miserables in French.

Civic class hears on city government and lectures
Last Wednesday Mr Morgan spoke on city government and the mayor’s work while Mrs Beatty discussed the forest reserve. The four upper grades heard Mr Burgett on cleaning up and Mr Haley on Good Friday. Eighth grade took a history test. Walter Glasgow and Earl Wiggins left school for spring work.
