Toole County Petition Approved for New County Creation

Word reached Chateau and Shelby Tuesday evening from the Montana Supreme Court clerk that the petition to create Toole County is sufficient. The board of county commissioners of Teton County was found regular and in accordance with law, clearing the way for election day Saturday in the proposed new county territory.

Reports say the United States has seized Vera Cruz with five battleships after a Marine landing. Four Americans were killed and twenty wounded. about 200 Mexicans died or were wounded as fighting continued through Wednesday night.
