Trumpeter swans sighted near Red Rock lake may signal comeback
Helena sportsmen Frank D. Neill Renny Wells and Virgil Anders reported 15 trumpeter swans landing on Red Rock lake, calling eerily before migrating north. Birds appeared rusty-headed and larger than nearby whistlers, fueling hope that migration revival could secure future populations after historic hunting and habitat losses.
