Choteau Creamery Installs New High Capacity Butter Churn
The Choteau creamery installs a 3200 gallon Cherry Burrell churn from Cedar Rapids IA. It will produce about 1200 pounds of butter per cycle, replacing an older 220 gallon unit. The churn uses stainless steel in cream contact areas and California redwood and Douglas fir in interiors. It is motor driven with roller bearings and enclosed gears, and a taller barrel design yields larger butter masses. New concrete work supports the unit.
