CHS Musicians Earn Superior In District Music Fair
Chateau High School musicians earned three superior, ten excellent, five good and one fair rating at the district Music Fair in Great Falls last week. Ten students placed on the all state chorus for the State Music Festival in Missoula May 7 and 8. Superior ratings went to Gary Crane, vocal solo, Diane Gronberg, baritone solo, and Greg Diener, French horn solo. Cross set on high school building in Choteau arson prank
Firemen fought a 12 foot wooden cross placed on the east face of Choteau High School Wednesday night. The cross looked ablaze though the building was not damaged except for a scorched cement pillar. A second unlit cross and barbed wire were found on the roof. Entrances appear to be through the interior. The crosses were assembled on the roof with rags soaked in flammable liquid attached to ignite the blaze.

Funeral services for Charles A. Olson 82 were at Chateau Methodist Church with Rev. C Fred Crowe officiating. Olson died Thursday in Teton County Rest Home after a life spanning Eau Claire Wisconsin to Stanford and Sand Coulee before settling in Chateau. He married Mary Bailey in 1915 and survived by a son, a daughter, siblings, and five grandchildren. Pallbearers included local residents. interment followed at Chateau Cemetery.

Twenty six Teton county men earned diplomas from a 16 hour radiological monitoring and decontamination course last week. County civil defense director Vern Marr and instructor John S. Robison attended. diplomas went to a list of named graduates from Fairfield Dutton and Power. Most students were from peace keeping or fire departments. the course covered radiological basics, decontamination, and use of radiation counters. Plans call for a two hour refresher every six months and a more detailed course next winter for select towns.
