The Coffey Hour sketches Easter bonnet jokes from cho eau to New York Paris salons with wry notes on hats and misprints. It parodies newspaper ads and captions from Cresenza Valley to Pensacola, Kalispell and Hungry Horse, ending with a teaser for page six.
The municipal band held an initial rehearsal Monday with few attendees. City veterans including C. O. Edwards and K. B. Cohoe were present. The next session is 8 o clock Monday in the high school auditorium. Director Wilbert Maynard urges a strong turnout and Edwards will assist in recruiting. All old band members are asked to attend to aid the reorganizing effort. A library of marches and overtures will be used in regular rehearsals.
Miss Cleo Buck, English teacher at Teton County High, announced that student Margaret Taylor of Chateau had a poem accepted for publication by the National High School Poetry Association. The poem titled Look Up won approval and drew praise for Miss Taylor, Miss Buck, and the Teton County school.
Lions heard a varied program at their bi weekly meeting Tuesday night. Readings were given by Larry Burlingame and Milton Van Aken. Mrs Ray Nelson sang Mighty Like a Rose and Strange Music with Marge Hanusa as accompanist. Secretary Gibson Monkman read a thank you letter from County Agent Raymond Kelly for assisting with the Fun Feed. About 50 members attended with guests Clark Inbody Glen Inbody Jack Willdahl Harry Davison and others.

All eligible women invited to a reorganization meeting of the VFW Auxiliary at the Lutheran church Friday night at 8. Women whose husbands were overseas in the war are eligible to join.
Willard Fraser, a noted literary critic, gave a two hour lecture on poetry at the Chateau Women’s Club last week praising its benefits and warning of pitfalls. He also addressed the local high school on the same topic.
The 128th anniversary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will be celebrated at Chateau lodge hall on Saturday night April 26. Committees are at work to make this year’s event outstanding with a turkey dinner an entertainment program and a dance. Members are urged to secure tickets before April 19 from Ed Schilling Ray Davidson Mrs George Seufert Malone’s Pharmacy or Rollie.
The American Legion auxiliary met with 75 attendees as Dr H V Gibson health officer from Great Falls spoke on rheumatic fever, followed by a film and a Q&A session. Delegates were elected for the spring district meeting, and funds donated to cancer control.
Moose officials announce Teen-Age Night will be held Mondays at Moose Lodge Hall instead of Tuesdays. The change follows requests from teen groups to use the hall for recreation and to avoid conflicts with other organizations.
Cal Shrum the screen’s cowboy singing star and Alta Lee the yodeling rangerette visit the Roxy theater for a one day show next Thursday April 17. Manager Gail Homan says Hal Carey the world champion yodeler appears in person, with on screen performances from Swing, Cowboy, Swing. The troupe also performs at Great Falls Civic Center theater.
The Young Timers Frolic will start Saturday April 19 with a 7:30 dinner in the high school gymnasium, followed by dancing in the Legion pavilion. Entertainment will mark the dinner hour and tickets must be bought in advance from the Power, Dutton, Fairfield, Collins, Chateau and Pendrey areas via a general committee led by Robert Gronberg, Joel Bo Or Less, and George Sulvrove.

Ruth Cottingham formerly of Choteau and niece of Mrs. Vi Jackson is named as a principal in a Spokane Trust Bank robbery. Cottingham, a teller at window two, passed the robber money after he demanded tens and twenties. Police and FBI searched the Downtown area. the robber escaped. Cottingham previously served as librarian and secretary at Teton County High School.
School district one trustees elected Saturday are Earl Hollar C Gibson Monkman and John Dunckel. Hollar and Monkman each won 108 votes for three year terms while John Dunckel received 121 votes for an unexpired two year term. Eddie Howard withdrew from the ballot and received 26 votes. The board will oversee Chateau High and Grade schools as consolidation ends this year.
The Montana State Board of Health announces spring clinics for crippled children, with Great Falls set for April 23-24 at the Civic Center to serve Teton county residents. Orthopaedic surgeon Dr J C Wolgamot and pediatrician Dr A L Gleason will conduct exams, eligibility open to under 21 with crippling conditions.
Margaret Scanlon Galvin aged 74 mother of Mrs Jerry Breen of Choteau died Saturday at Choteau hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Lyndon Station Wisconsin she married William B Galvin in 1894 and came to Musselshell Valley Montana in 1907 living there until 1934. She later resided in California before returning to Choteau. Survived by four daughters 13 grandchildren and two sisters.
A water well producing 50 barrels an hour was drilled by P. L. Ferguson seventeen miles southeast of Dutton. The well lies on the Mervin Juels farm in a region considered dry. Water entered from an eight foot thick sand at about one hundred feet depth.
May 1 is the deadline for Teton County farmers and ranchers to sign up for the 1947 agricultural conservation program. Roy Morgan, ACA chairman, notes many have filed plans but some may be disappointed if they miss the cutoff. Practices must be approved before work begins to qualify for payments, with funds limited by the county allocation.
The Chateau-Fairfield choir from Trinity Lutheran Church at Chateau delivered a high quality broadcast on KFBB featuring Handel Messiah and spirituals. LeRoy Stahl praised the performance as worthy of future CBS air time. soloists Elizabeth Maynard Lyle Squires Rev Harold Engdahl and Mrs A B Grandal were highlighted. Mrs Marge Hanusa directed from combined Methodist and Lutheran choirs. The broadcast ran Saturday night from 7 30 pm to 9 00 pm with thanks given to assisting church groups and decor contributors.
Choteau Unit 6 Legion auxiliary members consent to assist County Red Cross Chairman Leo Murphy in securing memberships. In coming days residents will be approached by auxiliary members offering 1947 membership cards for cash gifts. If missed, contribute by mailing a check to Leo Murphy or leaving funds at his Larson block office.
