Death of A. J. Cowell prominent Teton cattleman
A. J. Cowell, aged 61, longtime Teton county livestock operator and pioneer settler, died at Chateau hospital on Sunday April 6 from heart trouble. He had ranch interests on Deep Creek and owned or managed several properties including the W. D. Jones and Reickhoff ranches and later the Bass Christian Deep Creek tract. He helped form the Los Angeles Sheep Co with Rambouillet stock shipped from California and held a half interest as general manager at his death. The body went to Los Angeles for interment with survivors including a widow two daughters a sister two brothers and many relatives.

Schaffer Pleads Guilty in Federal Court
Claude Schaffer pled guilty in federal court after arrest in Teton county by Sheriff Belquam for violation of the national prohibition act. Judge Charles Ny ordered a $250 fine plus costs. Authorities found mash, a ready still, and distilling gear at a Fairfield ranch. Sidney West, linked to the case, fled and remains at large.

Abor Union Bank At Great Falls Seized By Labor Group
Control of the Northern National bank at Great Falls passed to Great Falls Union Labor men after 70 per cent of stock changed hands. Reid exposes officers to loot cached in Canada

Federal grand jury at Great Falls returns an indictment charging Senator Wheeler with improperly representing Montana oil operators in matters involving the government. Several students across grades are listed as absent this week including Grace Andrews Mor ris Tallifson and Charles Cohoe from the seventh grade and Richard Andrews from the sixth grade. A pupil from the third grade Sdwin Butcher has moved to Sunburst. Alta Dornblazer from the eighth grade leaves for Sunburst to finish the year. Lavina Ward missed one day breaking her perfect attendance. The school reopened April 7 after a one week closure with the lowest attendance of the year and Tuesday showed little improvement.

Early water supply begun for Fort Shaw project
Water has been turned into the main canal of the Fort Shaw Irrigation project earlier than usual. Winter moisture has been insufficient for strawberry and sugar beet lands, so the reclamation service is supplying water earlier to aid conditioning.
