Snow Measurements Show Improved Conditions in Teton and Sun River

Drivers examinations will not be held in Chateau on Tuesday April 19 due to an in service meeting in Helena. The Helena meeting runs April 18 to 20 causing no exams statewide on those days. Except for this one day in Chateau examinations occur every Tuesday.

James L. Keef of Shelby has been hired by the Choteau School Board to replace retiring superintendent Robert W. Gormley, effective June 30. Chateau seniors join All Northwest Choir in Seattle concert
Jeannie Dellwo and Rock Perkins of Chateau High School were selected for the All Northwest Choir in Seattle Washington this week. The six state region auditioned and met for 3 1/2 days of rehearsals culminating in a gala concert featuring choir band and orchestra at the Seattle Center opera house. They were accompanied by CHS music director Lloyd Reynolds. Dellwo is the daughter of Jim and Mrs Dellwo and Perkins the son of Earl and Mrs Perkins.

Hospital trustees Clark Inbody Rod Hanson and Bernard Bissell won two year and one year terms, defeating seven candidates to join Donel Nelson and Bert Guthrie on the hospital board. Final results show Hanson 956 Inbody 895 Gleason 584 Fellows 502 Tesch 209 Bissell 957 Brunner 551. County Clerk Nina Greyne defeated Peggy Corbett Martin 1115 to 1042. Myron Wheeler won County Commissioner unopposed after primary. School board winners Peter Ekegren and Duane Anseth lead with 104 and 274 votes respectively. City race saw Gen R Stoudt beat John O Loughlin for alderman Ward I. Hamilton re elected mayor Nauck re elected alderman Ward II and Barbara Anderson re elected city judge.

Choteau will install new grass greens replacing the old ones as part of course improvements started last year with an underground sprinkler system. A bid by Vern Scott of Choteau for 6072 was accepted for removing the old greens and installing new greens financed by Bureau of Outdoor Recreation funds with no local tax money.

Two Highway Meetings Reset For Monday
The Montana Department of Highways rescheduled two highway meetings near Chateau and Dupuyer due to storms. A combined corridor and design hearing will be at 2 p.m. in Teton County Courthouse, Chateau, for a 12 mile Montana Secondary 378 project from 378/220 to 219 junction. An informational meeting at Dupuyer Community Hall at 7:30 p.m. will discuss a proposed U.S. 89 route from 2.6 miles north of Bynum northwest about 200 miles to near Dupuyer.

Otto Swanson Dies at 87 in Montana Funeral Rites
Otto Swanson 87 died March 31 at Teton Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held April 4 at Choteau United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Adams and Rev. James Enghe officiating and burial in Chateau Cemetery. He was born March 30 1890 in Sweden and immigrated in 1902 settling first in Great Falls before homesteading west of Pendroy. He never married and is survived by a brother, a sister in Sweden, and several relatives.
