USDA Reports Continued Decline In Farm Income
The Agriculture Department said farm income declined in the past year with the farm parity ratio dropping 4 percent from late 1953 to late 1954. Most of the drop came from lower crop prices while living and production costs rose about 1 percent. Seed prices, especially grass and legume seeds, rose an average 12 percent. Parity ratio ended 1954 at 87 percent of the fair price level, down from 91 percent a year earlier.
