New Orleans UPI report details doubts within Jim Garrison’s investigation into President Kennedy’s assassination. Former private investigator William Gurvich recalls concerns as early as January, with the probe gaining attention in February.
A C123 cargo plane carrying 17 Combat Controllers and Combat Weathermen and a four man crew landed at Childress Air Field yesterday due to engine trouble. A replacement engine arrived, the aircraft was repaired, and the party proceeded to Colorado Springs. Captains James O’Kelly and Dominico Runco led the crew with John A. Yanick and Charles W. Sing aboard.
James Buchanan five remains in serious condition after surgery at St. Anthony's Hospital Amarillo following a horse kick to the head on Sunday. He is son of Mr and Mrs J M Buchanan of West Ranch and was treated first at Childress General before transfer.
The Greenbelt Municipal and Industrial Water Authority reports reservoir storage near one billion gallons, announced by general manager Jimmy Kuhn. Despite only two rains with runoff, water use grows as Childress and Quanah secure most needs from Greenbelt. yesterday’s figure shows 2,840 acre feet or about 925 million gallons.
The VFW will meet at 7 30 p m today at the Veterans Building. The gathering aims to discuss post activities and upcoming events with members advised to attend.

President Johnson will host King Hussein of Jordan at the White House to press for an Israeli withdrawal from territory west of the Jordan River amid the Arab Israeli war. Hussein, in New York for the UN, will be the first Arab leader to discuss the crisis with Johnson since the June conflict began.

The state had 36 jurors ready from a panel of 47 as defense questioned additional prospects. The Medderses rose from humble beginnings to a life of lavish parties financed by loans.

Oregon Gov Tom McCall notes Reagan has much going for him while New Mexico Gov David F Cargo says Reagan talks like a candidate. Governors confer with Romney Nixon options noted as primaries loom.
In Vietnam two Wichita Falls soldiers died in the Mekong Delta on June 19 while serving in A Company 4th Battalion 47th Infantry 9th Division. Spec 4 Clyde W Stephens age 25 and Spec 4 James G Hinch age 22 slept in the same bunker and died in a joint trap. Parents were notified June 22. Stephens was born in Childress and recently promoted to specialist fourth class. Hinch was born in Dyersburg Tennessee.
A divorce suit was filed Monday in the District Clerk's office naming Sandra Sue Guillory and James Carlton Guillory as the parties. The action seeks dissolution of marriage with associated relief as provided by law.
London sources report Soviet Premier Kosygin’s Havana visit as a fence mending mission to curb Fidel Castro’s drift toward a Latin American third force. Moscow Havana tensions have risen as Castro seeks broader alignment beyond Moscow.

Born in Alabama she lived in Tell and Childress area about 35 years before moving to Amarillo five years ago She was a Baptist Church member.
Mrs. G. L. Dake of Quanah mother of Mrs. Gene Frisbie of Childress died at 7 a.m. today in Chillicothe Hospital after a sudden illness. Funeral arrangements are pending with Knowles Funeral Home in Quanah. Survivors include her husband, one son Bobby Dake of Arlington, two daughters including Mrs. Frisbie and Mrs. Frank Walden of Quanah, and several grandchildren.
