Self-Centeredness Begins Long Before Senility
A letter discusses an 83 year old mother in law living with a couple for 15 years. She snoops, interferes, and damages items. The adviser says there is no real cure and suggests two grim options a mental institution or relocating, noting the mother’s self centered behavior persists regardless of age. The piece ends with a cynical view that intelligent answers to such self centeredness do not exist.
