Clouds of last night dumped more moisture in the Childress area though totals were modest locally. Fort Worth and Denver line reports show Wellington 1.75 inches Memphis 1.07 inches Quannah and Estelline one inch with continued rain in Quannah. Downtown Childress recorded .06 inch and .60 inch by two days at the area. Baylor Creek Lake rose to 18 feet 8 inches, the highest on record. A farmer hailed the rain as perfect easing a crust problem and aiding germination. Four tornadoes touched down across West and Central Texas causing damage but few injuries. News notes include the death of a Hale County farmer struck by lightning and widespread thunder storms with dust storms and high winds.
