Piowaty Reports Idaho Onion Crop Below Last Year
Carl Piowaty of Piowaty Bros Inc returns from Idaho onion districts reporting large Spanish onion holdings under contract. He says Idaho acreage will yield about 2,000 cars this season, far less than last year, with white onions nearly exhausted and Spanish yellows shipping. Quality of Spanish onions, especially in Nampa, is superior due to ideal weather. About half the crop will grade two to three inches, the rest larger.
