Benton Harbor Mich September 11 The Michigan peach deal peak occurred Labor Day with 66,860 bushels or 167 cars handled at the Benton Harbor market. Late Nebraska Potato Crop Underway in North Platte Valley
The Triumph and Cobbler potato crop in the North Platte valley is progressing toward the main crop around September 25 to October 1. Shipments through midweek reached about 400 cars, up from 200 last year, aided by rail from the Kearney district. Early Triumphs and Cobblers were generally of ordinary quality due to heat, but the intermediate crop is improving and the late crop is expected to be the best in years. Grower prices midweek were about 26 cents below last week, with roughly 1.65 dollars per hundredweight for Triumphs and 1.50 dollars for Cobblers.
