Poultry Market Outlook Across States and Turkeys

The Packer reports varied poultry conditions this fall with colder central states shrinking turkey crops, while Texas shows a larger expected turkey output. Prices depend on market timing around Thanksgiving, not just overall supply. Large cold storage stocks may steady or depress prices, and broad feed abundance favors egg production and a generally high fall outlook.

Texas Turkeys Ahead in Lone Star State Growers Report

Dallas dispatch reports no reliable figures for Texas turkey output but signs point to a record crop. Agencies cite 360 cars in Texas last year with a 60 percent crop, though actual output may have been about 225 cars. Reports note vast remote districts and concentrating towns like Frederick near Austin. Weather and plentiful food have turkeys further along this year, especially in West Texas with widespread activity. North and South Texas show robust prospects as birds mature before markets open.
