New York dispatch notes stronger foreign apple markets with Wednesday auctions in Glasgow and Liverpool. Yorka and Kings barrels fetch high prices. York Imperials, Winesaps, Jonathan, King Davids, and Delicious varieties reported with several price ranges. Apples Move In Abundant Volume As Peak Jonathan Season Nears

Payette Idaho October reports show Southern Idaho shippers moving about 150 cars of Jonathans daily this week with strong demand. Prices quoted at 1.55 to 1.60 per basket, quality generally good and color fair. Around 1,200 cars have been moved to date with similar amount left, while Delicious and Winesap prospects improve and Rome Beauties await peak. Romes likely to ship in baskets for color reasons.

In Chicago the grape market shows rising supplies with steady demand. Muscats lugs sell 95 cents to $1.10, Zinfandels $1.30 to $1.45, Alicantes $1.50 to $1.60, and Carmannanes $1.80 to $1.40. J S Edwards manager of the Gold Buckle Association and unit of the California Fruit Growers Exchange in East Highlands Calif arrived in New York. He opposes selling Exchange fruit through DiGiorgio auctions and supports cooperative auctions. Dezell of the Exchange in New York discussed the dispute and noted some exchange tonnage favors cooperation while Edwards threatens to fold if his terms aren’t met.
