Egg Swindlers Caught in Big Fraud Deal Near Chicago
Chicago detectives halted a large egg and butter scam by the H. R. Waszko Co. operatives, three young men including Victor I. Waszko J M Jelich and Philip Laub, who bought heavily on credit then fled to Pittsburgh after shipping goods. Forged checks and stolen carloads were seized, with 900 crates of eggs and 75 tubs of butter recovered and stored for Chicago owners.

Three men led a wholesale produce swindle, buying butter and eggs in Chicago and Pittsburgh. They were arrested in Pittsburgh and extradition to Chicago arranged. Creditors pooled $12,000 to pursue charges as perishable goods were moved to market.
Lemons Hold High Prices as Receipts Lag in Chicago
Chicago November 15. The lemon market saw little change with light receipts keeping prices elevated. Dealers claim lemons are held back on the coast until other varieties or perishable fruits clear, and say a brisk market depends on higher arrivals. Carlots priced around 5.50 to 6.00 per box. Florida fruit slower, California Valencia 3.25 to 4.00. Florida 2.00 to 2.50. Grapefruit demand up, quality better, with ample supply at 2.50 to 3.00 per box fob Chicago.

Chicago November 15. The street was startled by the death by his own hand of I A Stevens secretary of the E L Hasler Co here. Stevens shot himself late last week the funeral was held Sunday. His accounts were straight and he seemed happy but he was despondent at times from growing old and local rumor says this thought led him to take his life. He was about sixty years old.
