New York November 5 The strike of East Coast longshoremen ended Friday of last week as the International Longshoremen's Association accepted a new contract from steamship lines. From Edinburg Texas on November 2 the Engleman Gardens Association shipped the first straight car of lemons ever leaving the lower Rio Grande Valley. The fruit was fully colored and packed in half straps with sizes mostly 144s and 168s. The car headed to Chicago, following a prior car from the same grove that sold well last week. Lemon production in Texas has grown, and shipments by rail may soon rise, replacing truck routes to nearby markets.
