Chicago firm Mills Brothers settled the Havana Fruit Company case for 50000 after years of litigation over pineapple sale proceeds from 1914 to 1917. The court had found Mills Brothers must account for actual proceeds, not Chicago market prices, and the suit originated in U S District Court with shipments totaling about 256000 crates.
The total proceeds were 1591.90 with an average of 3.67 per crate. The Havana Fruit Company’s interests were handled by Victor Elting, attorney at 137 South LaSalle Street, Chicago.
