Reports from shipping points on the Delmarva peninsula indicate a 16 to 20 percent drop in potato acreage this season with yield down about 6 percent due to dry weather. Movement begins the week of May 30 from Cape Charles and nearby sections with heavy action the week of June 6. The onion deal is expected to start around June 25.
