Macon Ga June 3 Georgia melon acreage fell short by weather but growers expect near normal output around 10 000 cars with rains aiding vines. Southern shipments begin around June 16 and mid state volumes rise by July. Acreage 67600 under ten year average yield last year 225 per acre vs ten year 262. Market master says high grade melons will fill 10 000 car demand.

Railroads Granted 5 Per Cent Increase in Minnesota
Minneapolis June 3 Authority was granted last week by the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission to railroads to increase their intrastate freight rates on several perishable commodities. An increase of 6 per cent was granted on poultry butter eggs hides wool and potatoes. The increase followed a recent interstate rate rise. The roads asked for 10 per cent but in most cases 5 per cent was granted. There was no advance on some commodities.
