Chicago on May 25 reported a rise in strawberry receipts with about 45 cars arriving in the first three days. Illinois berries sold mainly at 1.75 to 2.50 for 24-quart crates, fancy Aromas up to 3.25, Tennessee stock 1.75 to 2.25, Arkansas around 2.50, Louisianas still coming slowly. Pints at 1.15 to 1.45 and quarts at 2.0 to 2.50.
Washington D C May 25 Three hundred and sixty eight storages report 3 259 860 cases of eggs in storage May 14. Three hundred and two storages report 2 993 528 cases vs 3 595 959 cases May 15 last year. Holdings up 1 375 897 cases since May 1 vs last year’s 1 150 314. Four hundred and four storages report 6 239 716 pounds of creamery butter in storage May 15. Two hundred fifty four storages report 5 688 732 pounds vs 1 652 991 pounds May 15 last year. Holdings up 67 2 percent since May 1 vs 4 9 percent in same period last season.
Government officials in Kansas City say interstate egg shipments will face tougher inspection this season with federal and state inspectors collaborating to weed out bad stock. Deterioration due to heat prompts early field checks across Oklahoma and Midwest states. Farmers warned to deliver sound eggs as inspectors intensify candling and enforcement.

California vegetable shipments in Southern California total 6809 cars for the season with daily totals ranging from 41 to 102 cars and this week showing heavier movement than last week. Florida cantaloupes arrive in New Orleans with prices from 2.60 to 2.75 per crate. fruit is small and slightly green.
The Packer invites readers to tender Liberty Bonds at 102 2 percent above par in exchange for advertising. It notes willingness to buy all bonds at par if possible, urging patriotic duty and inviting interested parties to write for details.
Boston May 25 Eighty eight members of the National Union Association were indicted by the federal grand jury amid accusations of market control and price manipulation. The headquarters are listed at Kenton Ohio with several affiliated firms named across multiple states. Indictments target officers and specific companies, alleging illegal trade practices that kept onion prices high from harvest to sale in midwinter.
California Fruit Distributors traffic manager Harry W Adams arrested on charges of filing false claims against railroads for alleged transit damage. Indictment lists two counts under $1,000, with hearings set June 2 before Judge Maurice J Dooling. Other indictments include Berg Stevens Moran cases involving claimed $672 in two items, including $360 for damaged chicken feed.
